Position Summary
BCIT’s Student Services department is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Registered Nurse.
Duties & Responsibilities
The on campus medical clinic provides primary care to the BCIT student community. Nurses use a broad range of nursing skills in partnership with the multi-disciplinary health team (physicians, counsellors and psychiatrist). The clinic has two FTE nursing positions that take the lead on providing immunization and vaccination services, health promotion, and patient triage. The nursing team works collaboratively with the School of Health Sciences in preparation of all newly admitted students to meet their clinical placement requirements. The nursing position works collaboratively to develop health awareness programming on campus and are participants on various groups/committees.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
  • Current BCCNM practicing license and valid CPR certificate.
  • A minimum five years related experience with a preference for experience working with post-secondary student populations.
  • Experience with immunizations, TB Skin testing, contact screening, and phlebotomy.
  • Clinical experience in primary, public and mental health care ideal.
  • Experience assisting with clinical skills (e.g. assisting with minor surgical procedures, wound care, dressings, STI Testing, etc.).
  • Proven experience in health promotion and education including the use and development of online resources.
  • Strong computer skills and experience using electronic health record systems. Ability to use basic Microsoft Office programs (Word, Office, Excel, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills for collaborative team work.
  • Ability to work independently.

Salary Range Salary Range: $63,150 - $110,238 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
