Position Summary
BCIT’s Information Technology Services department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Senior Report Analyst. As a member of the Reporting Team in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department, the Senior Report Analyst plays a critical role in supporting reporting and analytics services at BCIT. The Institute is modernizing its reporting standards, systems and processes and this role will actively contribute to the Institute’s data initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report Development:
  • Gather and translate client requirements to build accurate reports and dashboards to support client’s decision making.
  • Design, develop, unit test, implement and support reporting and analytics leveraging tools such as Cognos and TM1 to meet client objectives and requirements.
  • Design data models and semantic layers to meet client requirements and SLAs.
  • Create, enhance, and maintain Framework Manager models to support business requirements.
  • Develop and update reporting standards with business clients

System Administration:
  • Maintain appropriate system administration and documentation. Responsible for upgrades and maintenance of reporting and analytics environment.
  • Update, maintain and operate data loading in the TM1 application
  • Recommend strategies to improve performance and capacity of Analytics and BI tools
  • Support, improve and maintain Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes.
  • Support Planning Analytics (TM1) budget and forecasting components as well as data model support.

Report and Application Support:
  • Investigate and resolve incidents and problems related to reporting services.
  • Support demos, client presentations, and service adoption.
  • Continuously improve support processes for both the reporting team and clients.

General:
  • Provide leadership in reporting and BI best practices including data governance, data architecture, database, report and analytics development
  • Liaise with vendors to connect BCIT’s business needs with technical solutions.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Institute of Technology Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business; and a minimum of six years of current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT, including four of the last six years in a similar position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have demonstrated advanced and current IT knowledge.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques.
  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including leadership and specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends).
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in Cognos Analytics development and administration.
  • Experience deploying packages, reports and related BI artifacts.
  • Experience with or certifications related to Oracle DB and SQL is desirable.
  • Experience with multiple BI and analytics systems would be an asset.
  • Experience with Framework Manager/data module is an asset.
  • Experience administering and supporting TM1 is an asset.
  • Ellucian Banner or other ERP experience is an asset.
  • Experience in a post-secondary institute or public sector environment an asset.

Salary Range Salary Range: $77,498 - $102,679 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
