Position Summary
BCIT’s Information Technology Services department is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Junior Systems Analyst. This position will join the Service Delivery – Service Desk Team. This will be a one-year, temporary position. IT Services is a dynamic environment with a passion for service to our students, faculty, and staff. This position works under general direction and occasional supervision, and will be responsible for providing first-level telephone, e-mail, and in-person support at the Service Desk for the BCIT community.

Shifts: Days of work for the position will be Monday through Friday and the 8-hour shift assignment (including an hour unpaid lunch break) will be typically scheduled between the hours of 12:00PM and 8:00PM. This is an on-campus position based out of the BCIT Burnaby Campus.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide exemplary customer service and support
  • Problem determination, escalation, documentation and resolution.
  • Performing troubleshooting and support services using remote tools and/or at the client location, as per IT Services practices.
  • Logging and managing client requests & incidents within an IT service management system
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Institute of Technology diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in science or business; or
  • A minimum of two years current relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must have demonstrated general IT knowledge.
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented, proven analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task, while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques.
  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends).
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience, preferably at a service desk, helpdesk or equivalent providing phone, email, and in-person support in a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience using incident tracking and remote desktop software in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with Virtual Private Networks and experience supporting a hybrid work environment.
  • Experience supporting a variety of operating systems (including Windows and Mac OS).
  • Experience supporting M365.
  • Experience supporting email (MS Exchange/Outlook experience would be an asset).
  • Experience supporting end-user device hardware, printers and mobile devices.
  • Basic computer security knowledge, including support for MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
  • Familiarity with Automatic Call Distribution technology.
  • General knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless networks and general knowledge of network infrastructure.
  • A+ and/or Help Desk certification(s) preferred.
A customer service focus is mandatory for success in this position.

Salary Range Salary Range: $56,965 - $72,364 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
