Position Summary
BCIT’s IT Services department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Senior Project Coordinator. The Digital Transformation team within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department helps the Institute proactively identify and respond to changes in technology, industry and customer expectations. This includes partnering with our clients to understand and address their challenges and opportunities; designing optimal system and process experiences for, and with, our stakeholders; and providing the support required for our Institute to adapt to change. Our ultimate goal is to improve the teaching and learning outcomes for our 50,000+ students, as well as the experiences of our faculty and staff.

It’s a dynamic time at BCIT as we embark on numerous projects and programs which will enhance the digital experience for students, faculty and staff. We are seeking a full-time Senior Project Coordinator (Sr PC) to lead small to medium-sized technical projects within the IT Infrastructure Programs. The Sr PC will work closely with our clients in HR, Finance, Schools, and Student Services. Assignments may range from Cloud Migration projects within IT Infrastructure department to implementation of Commercial off the Self Software (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Leads small to medium-sized technical projects, typically 6 months to one-year duration. Normally leads multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinates project planning activities with the project team, Program Manager and Sponsor. Documents project approach, key project activities, resources and work estimates as identified in planning sessions.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules to track work, deliverables, and milestones
  • Coordinates the activities of the project team and supporting operations teams, ensuring scheduling considers dependencies and interdependencies
  • Coordinates with or assists vendor project managers on scheduling of activities, meeting coordination and go-live activities
  • Plans and coordinates quality assurance activities with technical and business staff
  • Plans and coordinates go-live and sustainment hand-over activities between all participating teams
  • Maintains project documentation including project charters, project schedules, risk and issue logs, project status reports
  • Facilitates project meetings and workshops. Takes meeting and workshop minutes.
  • Aligns documentation and project processes to established program and project framework(s)
  • Helps to resolve project issues and escalates as needed to Program Managers and Sponsors
  • Supports change management activities
  • Assists in post-implementation reviews
  • Assists onboarding of new project team members
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Institute of Technology Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business; and a minimum of six years of current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT, including four of the last six years in a similar position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Must have demonstrated advanced and current IT knowledge
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
  • Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques
  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including leadership and specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)
  • High level of professionalism and ethics

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified PMI CAPM, PMP, or equivalent certification is an asset
  • Experience working in a medium to large-sized IT department/organization working with multiple teams of technical staff
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution or public sector environment is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and coordinate technical tasks with several teams
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating Testing and QA activities is highly desirable
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience working in an Agile environment is desirable
  • Experience supporting project change management activities is desirable.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) is an asset
  • Ellucian Banner or other ERP experience is an asset

Salary Range Salary Range: $77,498 - $102,679 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
