Position Summary
BCIT’s Information Technology Services department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Manager, Change Management. This position leads the development of a change management practice at BCIT. Devises change management strategies and standard practices, managing their implementation and ensuring they support a robust integration and transition between the Institute’s changes to systems, processes and people practices. Leads stakeholder analyses, change impact and readiness assessments. Establishes change metrics, maximizing adoption, utilization and proficiency. Works closely with the Institute leaders at all levels and acts as a coach to ensure leaders understand their roles in managing change, adoption, and reinforcement.
Duties & Responsibilities
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Leads the development of a change management practice at BCIT, including processes, standards, methodologies and templates. Works closely with the Enterprise Planning and the Organizational Development teams to enhance the change capability across BCIT.
  • Creates and manages change management strategies and approaches from inception through post implementation.
  • Establishes and applies structured change management tools and processes that support the adoption of programs, projects and operational changes. Continuously evaluates and improves change management processes and procedures.
  • Develops the framework, processes and tools to enable Change management assessments, including stakeholder analysis, impact analysis, change readiness, sponsor engagement readiness and change resistance.
  • Develops and supports the execution of change-related communication strategies and tactics. Liaises and establishes procedures with BCIT’s Marketing and Communications department for Institutional communications.
  • Provides direction in the development and execution of training plans and user documentation.
  • Coaches and influences change champions, program sponsors and leadership to support bridging the people side of change to the business process changes.
  • Works alongside Human Resources to support managers through job and organizational changes on their teams. Produces speaking points, sensitive team and department communications, and communication plans.
  • Defines, measures and monitors the success of change initiatives.
  • Mentors BCIT staff in change management methodologies and approaches.
  • Manages reporting staff, overseeing and participating in selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and other people-management practices.
  • Promotes an environment of growth by working with staff to create learning plans; identifying training and development opportunities; and ensuring the team receives the support they require to grow.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, technology, marketing or communications.
  • 8 years of progressive experience working in a project environment, with an emphasis in leading and delivering large change management programs or initiatives for large technology implementations.
  • Professional certification in change management discipline, such as PROSCI or equivalent.
  • Experience managing change in a large and complex post-secondary or public sector organization is highly desirable.
  • experience in planning, managing, tracking and reporting change activities for large programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to summarize communications for executive consumption and has business acumen and experience presenting to senior leaders of organizations.
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information and conducting confidential conversations related to organizational changes.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting organizations through job changes. Has a solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process.
  • Experience implementing change in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Forward looking with a holistic approach
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills. Builds strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders, can work collaboratively with and through others.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiating, facilitating and decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
