Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Health Science is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) School Development Manager. Provides direction and leadership to the School’s branding, program visibility and sustained growth in student enrolment. Participates as a member of the School’s leadership team, advising and making recommendations on key decisions, including on all aspects of marketing, public engagement outreach and strategic enrolment growth management. Under direction of the Dean, School of Health Sciences, participates and lead assigned projects/initiatives related to school’s future growth and direction. Oversees strategies for outreach to external audience on marketing and communication initiatives, as well as increasing visibility in communities contributing to the success of the School’s overall future growth, as well as potential revenue generation. Leads initiatives to optimize the School’s position in targeted sectors. Develops and drives domestic and international engagement strategies and leads initiatives in support of School and Institute goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversees, develops and drives the marketing, public relations and communication strategies that support achievement of the School’s goals and objectives for program visibility, student enrolment growth and industry engagement.
  • Provides strategic direction to the School’s industry, public and internal relations and communications. Leads brand enhancement and the development of strategies and plans for all aspects of marketing, promotions, online presence, and school visibility and awareness initiatives.
  • Establishes strategic domestic and international networks with relevant industries, professional organizations and associations, government agencies, institutes, and industry partners to increase the School’s profile and create new marketing outreach opportunities and markets.
  • Keeps informed on political, economic, social, educational and market trends that influence the effective implementation and ongoing success of the School’s strategic plan and objectives.
  • Works with program stakeholders across the Institute, providing direction and leadership to ensure sustained growth in student enrolment. Collaborates internally and with other areas to identify, develop and coordinate alumni and industry outreach initiatives for the School.
  • Directs research and provides expertise on trends, models and best practices related to strategic marketing and enrolment, including related analysis, data integrity, and metrics and reporting.
  • Leads and/or contributes expertise to School initiatives and special assignments in support of School and Institute goals. Participates on internal and external initiatives, committees and advisory groups to ensure School Development initiatives are represented.
  • Manages the department’s marketing and outreach activities by setting the priorities and ensuring they are aligned and support the overarching plans.
  • Establishes and maintains client management database system with up-to-date information and for marketing purposes, as well as to support the School’s leadership team with industry relations regarding donations, scholarships, awards and gifts in kind.
  • Works in conjunction with the Operations Manager to establish the annual financial budgets and plans for the marketing activities by determining resourcing needs.
  • Manages direct reporting staff, overseeing and participating in selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and all other people-management practices.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or within a Business Administration subject area.
  • Relevant health sciences experience
  • 6-8 years of relevant progressive leadership experience..
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Advanced knowledge of the concepts, theories, practices and models of marketing and branding strategies
  • Advanced business acumen with skills in developing strategic plans and driving out program initiatives
  • Advanced ability to apply sound judgment in problem solving, evaluating courses of action and making decisions on complex matters
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and sustain relationships, develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders and work with staff at all levels
  • Advanced people leadership skills with ability to build and manage teams
