Position Summary
Come share your passion for Aircraft, Avionics, or Aircraft Turbine Engine Maintenance with the next generation of learners at BCIT!

BCIT’s Aviation Programs in the School of Transportation requires full-time, temporary Faculty members at our Aerospace Technology Campus in Richmond to teach in the Transport Canada approved curriculum for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘E’ (Electronics) and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category ‘M’ (Maintenance) programs, and the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace (CCAA) accredited Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician program.

Please note: Appointments will be of durations from three months to up to one year, with the potential for extension, to support the delivery of temporarily-funded additional classes.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching, evaluation and preparation for both online remote delivery and in-person delivery of theory, and in-person delivery of shop activities.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Working collaboratively with other instructors, Department Heads, and Associate Dean.
  • Other duties directly related to the support and delivery of the programs.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills necessary to instruct basic training in our technical programs.
  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence, E or M, with previous Airworthiness Certification Authority (ACA) granted by an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of recent well-rounded industry experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) and how they pertain to the personnel licensing system and aircraft maintenance in Canada.
  • Previous supervisory, Quality Assurance, or post-secondary teaching experience an asset.
  • Gas Turbine maintenance knowledge and maintenance experience an asset.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Current computer literacy (Microsoft Office).

Salary Range Salary Range: $68,375 - $101,563 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
