Position Summary
BCIT’s Piping department is actively seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Gasfitter Class A Instructor. If you want to share your knowledge, enjoy teamwork, have an innovative approach, and a proven track record in industry, we would like to hear from you.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry-level or Industry Services students.
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs.
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification in Gasfitter Class A
  • Five years’ current work experience as a ticketed Gas A journeyperson with industrial and commercial servicing and commissioning experience.
  • One of the following BC Trades Certificate of Qualification would be an asset
  • Inter-Provincial Red Seal endorsement in a piping discipline.
    • Plumber
    • Steamfitter/Pipefitter
    • Sprinkler-fitter
    • Gasfitter “Class B”
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop a collegial environment.

*Please note: These are the minimum required qualifications. This position is a dayshift position as defined in Article 14.1 of the Collective Agreement.

Salary Range Salary Range: $68,375 - $101,563 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
