Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Business and Media is seeking temporary, part-time Instructors, Digital Arts, Media and Design to join the Digital Arts, Media and Design department. The department offers a range of part-time programs in the areas of Communication and Graphics, Web and Mobile, and Animation and Gaming. These programs take place at our Downtown Vancouver and Burnaby campuses, as well as online.

Duties & Responsibilities
Applicants are asked to specify within their cover letter, the courses and programs for which they have industry expertise and teaching experience. Note that teaching opportunities will vary, depending on the term and the program. Courses may be scheduled midweek during the day, in the evening, or on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in a related discipline; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of current, relevant, and demonstrated industry success
  • For graphic design programs, membership with a recognized design association considered an asset
  • Post-secondary teaching experience, related to the programs we deliver, considered an asset
  • Online teaching experience and familiarity with teaching technology considered an asset
  • Ability to prepare, deliver and administer relevant and applied course material, including effective coaching and assessment of students, in a manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, both oral and written
  • Flexible, creative and enthusiastic presentation approach and ability to deliver interactive and experiential sessions
  • Demonstrated teamwork abilities in a collaborative working environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
